1. DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME ENDS
Daylight Saving Time Ends on Saturday, October 31st at 2:00 AM. Please set your clocks back one hour before you go to bed. 
 
2. SPIRITUALITY FOR ACADEMICS                                                            
The UH Catholic Newman Center cordially invites all faculty, staff and graduate students to the Spirituality for Academics Luncheon Speaker Series on Tuesday, November 3rd at 12:00 Noon at the UH Catholic Newman Center. Our guest speaker will be the Most Reverend Joseph A. Fiorenza, D.D., Archbishop Emeritus of Galveston - Houston. The topic will be on Celebrating the Year for Priest. A special lunch will be provided by the UH Catholic Newman Center (donations suggested). If you plan to come, please R.S.V.P. by Friday, October 30th to Giovan Cuchapin by phone at (713) 748 - 2529 or by e-mail at fcuchapin [at] uh [dot] edu
 
 
 
3. CALLING ALL CATHOLIC MEN
Know Your Faith!  Learn It & Live It!  You are invited to the Archdiocesan Men's Day of Prayer on Saturday, November 7th at7:30 AM to 1:30 PM at the Catholic Charismatic Center 1949 Cullen Blvd, Houston, TX 77023 (713) 236 – 9977.   It is a wonderful opportunityto share faith, fellowship and prayers with your brothers in faith.  The Great Commission Jesus told his disciples to: "GO, THEREFORE, AND MAKE DISCIPLES OF ALL NATIONS" Save the date today, and begin making your list of those you will invite to this great event.  Invite your sons and fathers, friends, neighbors and co-workers; invite your priests and deacons!  Spanish mini-session begins on Friday evening, November 6th time to be announced.  Awesome Line-Up of Major Speakers, Including: Celebrant / Keynote: His Eminence Daniel Cardinal DiNardo, D.D., S.T.L., Hector Molina Jr., Michael Cumbie, Deacon Alex Jones, andmore TBD.  For best seating, pre-register online at  www.mensdayofprayer.org
 
4. LIFE IN THE SPIRIT: PRAISE/WORSHIP/ADORATION
Come to Life in the Spirit Evening of Prayer and Adoration to learn more about the charisms of the Holy Spirit in our life. Experience another way to further your relationship with Christ. We will start promptly at 7:00 PM at the UH Catholic Newman Center on Thursday, November 19th.
 
5. ANNUAL THANKSGIVING POTLUCK DINNER
All students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends of the UH Catholic Newman Center are invited to this year’s Annual Thanksgiving Potluck Dinner which will be held on Monday, November 23rd at 6:30 PM at the UH Catholic Newman Center. Please sign up to bring one of the following: Main Dish, Cultural Dish, Dessert and Vegetable. You may also sign up to help (this is especially good for students who cannot bring a food dish) set up or clean up. To let us know what you’ll be preparing there is a sign up board at the UH Catholic Newman Center or call us at (713) 748 - 2529. Happy Thanksgiving!
 
6. THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY UH CNC CLOSED
The UH Catholic Newman Center will be closed to all employees and students on Wednesday, November 25th thru Friday, November 27th, while staff is away for the Thanksgiving Holiday. The UH Catholic Newman Center will re-open Sunday, November 29th for Mass at 10:45 AM at the A.D. Bruce Religion Center. We will not have R.C.I.A. Class at 1:30 PM at the UH Catholic Newman Center.
 
7. UH HOME FOOTBALL GAME
Tailgate Party at the UH Catholic Newman Center, Sponsored by the Knights of Columbus on Saturday, November 28th at 5:00 PM. The UH Cougars will be playing cross-town rival Rice University at 7:00 PM so come to the UH Catholic Newman Center early and enjoy good food and company. Please contact Arjan Lim at arjan [dot] lim [at] gmail [dot] com to pre-order a tailgate meal or to donate to the Knights of Columbus for this event. GO COOGS!
 
8. JESUIT VOLUNTEER CORPS
Volunteer Opportunity: Interested in supporting faith-based service and social justice work? The Jesuit Volunteer Corps’ office here in Houston could use your help! Work out of this office helps support 51 volunteers and placements throughout the southern U.S. Responsibilities include organizational and administrative assistance among other tasks, but there is also room for your creativity. Work from 1 to 10 hours per week.  For more information, please contact Kristen at (713) 756-5095. Thank you!
